Mushroom Sauce for Hamburger

Happy Thursday All!! I realized I have been slacking on the recipes lately. Its been hard through summer.. I just want to make supper then get back outside! Which I am sure is what all you want to do too. 🙂

Yesterday I was completely wore out… But luckily my brain was still half working because right before I left to work I remembered I had some of T’s Mom’s frozen meatballs in the freezer.. Phewff!!!

So when I got home I got right to work making a quick delicious mushroom gravy for the meatballs. Here is the recipe I threw together:

Mushroom Gravy

1 can Mushroom Soup

1 pkg of Gravy Mix (dry)

1/2 medium Onion, chopped

2 Garlic Cloves, finely chopped

6-8 fresh Mushrooms, sliced

2 tbsp. Worcestershire

2 tbsp. Red Wine Vinegar

Salt & Pepper to Taste

dash of Olive Oil

In a medium skillet, add a dash of olive oil. Over medium heat add the garlic, onions & mushrooms. Let them saute until tender. Then add the mushroom soup, the gravy mix, Worcestershire, & red wine vinegar. Whisk to mix. Bring to a slight boil, then let it simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then add salt & pepper to taste. I added a lot of pepper!! I then added my meatballs to let them soak up some sauce. But you can also just pour the sauce over your dish before you serve.

I served it over our favorite meatballs on a bed of pasta with garlic toast & fresh picked cherry tomatoes!

Here is a picture… I took it with my IPhone so I apologize it is not the best.

It was delicious!!! Quick & easy! So make sure to snag a few of your mama’s meatballs to have on hand for those quick meal days.

Have a wonderful day!

Summer Days!

Hi!!!! Its summer time!! Hence why I haven’t been writing to you all… Its been gorgeous outside… & the last 10 days was the CALGARY STAMPEDE! So when we did have some spare time to be inside.. I was not thinking about going on the computer… it was the rodeo that got turned on. Here is a shout out to everyone that competed in the Calgary Stampede this year… I must say from what I seen all these athletes & animals were giving it 110% 200% of the time!! Be it Hell or High Water… Back injuries, knee injuries, getting stepped on kicked in the head or trampled… Everyone showed how “Cowboy” they are.. & that they deserved to be there! It was great watching!! Thanks to you all!!

Troy & I have been busy whipping the yard into shape, house into shape & packing up our sweet little trailer for a week long vacation in good ole MONTANA~! I don’t know too many Albertans that don’t enjoy a nice trip down there.I mean who doesn’t love Cheap Beer & Cigarettes & shotguns….. am I right?!?! haha

Coors Original (Golden Colorado)

Be it summer time… hitting up a gorgeous lake called Koocanusa. Where you can ski, board, surf all day long! Or head to Whitefish for some unreal PoWDeR in the winter… Or if you just want good scenery… relaxation.. shopping.. this is a great place to travel to! Maybe it’s because the people & the land down in Montana is very similar to ours.. this could be why Albertan’s feel the connection they do. Either way.. I am more than excited to flee this office… & get the heck out of dodge!

Amazing Snaps: Glacier National Park – Montana

T & I have spent a lot of our relationship so far on roadtrips… When we first got together we took his ’88 GMC pick up truck with his camper on a 5 hour trek! No A/C & +30 weather can be tough… but we had a blast!! We did the same trek the next summer but upgraded to a 2008 GMC. A/C was nice… but I must say it just wasn’t the same as all the bouncing around, grabbing gears with the wind in our hair… like the year before.

T Skiing on Koocanusa 2011

& now this trek we will be taking my beauty 2009 GMC which will pull our cute little trailer down across the border! I cannot wait to make some memories with this little outfit…. & T passed along his camper to his little bro & his girlfriend!! I know they already have some stories to go along with it!!

With being on the road a lot… a lot of our pictures happen on the road..

Coming home from sledding in Fernie
Going quadding at Easter
Cold Winter Night on the Road

Isn’t it funny how you can grow so attached to materials.. like for example your favorite rusted out pick up truck… or your 1st camper that you bought off the neighbor for $500! I find growing up you should go through the 1st, buy something that will suit you perfect but isn’t perfect. This is how you develop all your stories!!! I mean if T & I were in a new camper… I wouldn’t have pulled off the wood molding while trying to shimmy myself out of the camper in the cab of the truck.. when the main door wouldn’t open for me. Or we wouldn’t laugh about completely blowing the muffler apart while driving down the road… pretty sure Troy thought someone shot his truck it was so damn load!! haha

What are some of your favorite roadtrip memories… OR some of your favorite memories in that favorite truck or car of yours. I still wish I had my car that I had when I was 16. It was by far my most favorite vehicle… not sure if it was the car… or how many memories my friends & I had in it!!

Happy Summer All!!! I won’t be writing a lot the next little while… but I will try my best!

Get ooutside& play!!! We only have so long before the cold weather starts to come once again! 😉

Luv Ya… WRG

Dressed Up Pony – Hair By Heer

Hair By Heer shows us how to do a beauitful dressed up ponytail! Simple & Classy!

2 easy ways to dress up your ponytail this summer!
-start by creating some volume. Blast your roots with some dry shampoo or backcombing dust (osis dust it powder or osis refresh dust spray are my faves) and backcomb then lightly smooth it
-take the backcombed area and bobby pin it into place. Leave the front out and add more volume by securing it high with the pins
-pull remaining hair(minus the front section) into a pontail. Once you have done this you can remove the bobby pins you used to secure the backcombing.
-Next French braid, twist or even leave the front sections straight. Pull the braided/twisted end in to the back and wrap it around you ponytail. bobby pin it to secure underneath. Repeat on the other side
Ta Da!!!!

Love it! Thanks Hair By Heer!!

Have a great day All…. Luv Ya.. WRG

Song of the Week – Corb Lund “Getting Down On The Mountain”

I took T on a surprise date to see one of his favorite bands… Corb Lund! He was soo excited!
They played at the Coca-Cola Stage @ the Calgary Stampede. It was such a great show, we really enjoyed every minute of it!

He came on stage at 9pm… & got off just after 11… WOW! Not bad for a FREE show. Plus its always great supporting our local Albertan Artists!!

So this weeks Song of the Week is T & I’s favorite song of his right now… Makes us Alberta’s feel all warm & tingly inside as he sings about our way of life we have here!

Corb Lund - Cabin Fever Album

He even made up a quick song for Calgary & the disaster they suffered a few weeks back… went something like this:

“Come Hell or High River.. Come Drought or Come Blizzard… The Horses of Calgary Will Buck… They had their Centennial but this years more memorable… The Horses of Calgary Will Buck!” (last line may be off a little… but the same meaning just the same…haha)

Hope you all enjoy it!!!

Garden UpDate

WOW! What a weekend!! Not only did we celebrate T’s Gran’s 85th Bday, Help my Gramma get her basement cleaned out as she was affected by the Flood in High River. But we also celebrated Canada’s Bday on Monday… & T & I’s 2nd year Anniversary!!

T & I stuck to our tradition, & we took the canoes down the creek just as we did our first  day of being a couple! It was blistering hot, but luckily being on the water & getting the odd breeze made for a comfortable, fun  ride!!

After all the crazy events of the weekend we got somewhat settled at home. I decided to go out to check on my garden & this is what I found! Not sure what is in my soil out here, but it sure knows how to grow things BIG!

My first Radish (weird seeing last year they didn’t even grow!)

It’s sitting next to a nectarine! The best part was when I cut it open it was absolutely perfect.. not woody at all!

I also decided to pick an onion I seen.

Thought I would throw my hand in there for a scale. Plus the greens were twice as long, but I had to give it a quick trim! You can also see another radish I had picked…

I am now sooooo excited to see how my potatoes look… & my pumpkins too! (D your going down in the pumpkin growing contest!)

I will post a picture tomorrow of my whole garden. I cannot beleive how big everything is growing. It was a late starter, but with all the moisture in the ground & now this heat, things have really sprouted.

The worst thing however is right now I can’t sit & enjoy my garden. The mosquitoes are so unbearable I work as fast as possible to get in & out of that area as fast as possible! I should have practiced what I preached & planted some marigolds & lemon grass in there to keep them away.

Thought I would share with you a few other pictures that I took over the weekend.

Gramma’s Place in High River

1) Her basement as we were ripping everything out

2) Her front lawn

3) My beautiful cousin can’t believe her eyes… Something you had to see to beleive

4) Daddio taking a break after a hard days work

It was great having all the help. Now the basement is drying & her lawn is all cleaned up. It will make G’ma feel a little better when she drives by now not seeing a total disaster. It was quite devastating, but it was such a good feeling seeing everyone down there working so hard together & keeping positive.

Here are the Anniversary Flowers T got me… I felt pretty special! They are just Gorgeous!!

After a long weekend with family & friends. Floating our beautiful creek. Getting treated like family @ the local Saloon. Seeing Fire Flies for the First time in the grass. Singing around the Campfire. Watching Lightening light up the sky. Just proved to me once again that I am pretty damn lucky to be living where  I do with the best people ever~!!~

I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend! What did you get up too!?

Luv Ya… WRG
